    Default D.J Faour & Bros

I picked this guy up a week or two ago and got around to doing some sanding and polishing a few days ago. The blade had some light rust on it but I did not want to sand off the etching so I only gave it a light pass and then polished it. It is a 6/8 with a diamond spine. It took a very nice edge and shaves very good. It does not hut that it is a looker as well. I like the scales, I am not going to change them. The thumb cutout on the blade makes it steady and secure. There was some light gold wash in the blade etch but it did not survive the buffing wheel. I need to look around and see if I can get a gold leaf kit and re-gold the etching.

The tang is stamped D.J Faour & Bros, New-York with Germany on the other side of the tang. Not bad for a $15 ebay special. It looked bad but polished out nice.

That's a beaut! Keep us updated on the 'gold restore' progress, Dave.
