    Default Joseph Rodgers 'Mini-Wedge'

Ok here's my latest find, a 5/8 Joseph Rodgers wedge.

I saw it on Ebay, 4 hours to go and no bids, really poor photo but I thought I'd take a shot since it was only £4. Amazingly I won it!

When it arrived a few days later, I was amazed and surprised to see how nice it is. There's a tiny amount of rust, but I've successfully cleaned up far worse than this. The real surprise that it's almost a full wedge, looking at it end on it's almost triangular with hardly any hollowing. Almost zero hone wear too, so a really nice find. The blonde horn scales look a bit manky, I'm not sure if they're salvagable but I'll have a look when I take them off to get the Dremel on the blade. They are pinned with what looks like lead washers/rivets.

The weird thing is though, it's absolutely tiny! I'm used to seeing these W&B monster meat choppers, but this is way smaller. Check out the pics of it lying alongside a normal Dovo 5/8 full hollow, and you can see how small it is. Has anyone seen a razor this small before?

The cool thing about the smallness, is that I can probably take a set of Dovo scales and chop them off to fit this blade, since they can be cut off past the usual pivot pin hole. This means I can just order some off the shelf scales to get the razor back into a usable shape.

Anyway, I'll try and post further updates as and when I'm able to get anything done. The plan at the moment is to strip the razor, sand/polish the blade to clean it up, fit some black or white micarta scales (when classic have them in stock) and get it sent off to Lynn for honing.

I have a J.C Cockhill 5/8 wedge that is just as tiny, though it is slitghly less wedgy, and with more hone wear.

I also have a 5/8 wostenholm but that is normal length.

Both my JR wedges are small-ish, although I'm fairly sure they are not overly short. I'll have to make a comparison and get back to you.
