    Default Mr. Fixit : JoshEarl

I didn't know whether this should be in honing or restoration, but JoshEarl brought this DublDuck back to life.
A while back I posted on a DD that a friend from work has and it was his grandfathers (who was a barber). This still had the wrapper and looked like no hone wear. I sharpened him up and set him on his shaving way. He got home dropped it and put a chip in the toe. With both of beside ourselves, I sent it to Josh for some TLC. He did a quick regrind and hone and yu can't even tell it happened. Great job Josh and I will send more your way in the future.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

P.S. Pictures show before and after. Before picture is crappy but you can see the chip.

P.S.S. Maybe I'll try and buy this from my friend and trade him a nice Dovo. I'll give him some $ to boot.

Ouch, that sucks. That will cost him 50 lashes with a strop and one cut earlobe.

That chip was painful to look at. Fortunately the razor was a 6/8, and we turned it into a slightly oversized 5/8. It is a nice shaver.

Great job, Josh - did you have to grind it or did you hone it on a low-grit stone? Just curious.

This sucker definitely went on the grinder. I could have done it with some sandpaper or my DMT 325, but it would have taken a while.

    Great job there Josh !!!
I have to ask for a slight clarification here though???
When you say grinder, are you using a stone, or are you talking about a knife grinder: essentially a modified belt sander???? or perhaps a platter style grinder???
In other words did the blade touch a stone or a belt????
Every time I hear "Grinder" it makes me wonder what you guys mean...
    Thanks in advance...

I use a 2x72" belt grinder, which is the gold standard for people who make steel into blades.

A grinding stone would probably destroy most razors faster than you could blink.
