Dremel abrasive buffs......
OK, being a "newbie" , (but also a "common-sense" guy). one of my hobbies is metal-work......(and I've got a great shop).
*QUESTION*....Dremel Abrasive Buffs ?
Being new at this, I've got a few razors given to me) that are totally RUST !, (but I want to put them in my collection)......
I've tried "roughing in" an old razor with the Dremel Abrasive Buffs......and I think they do a pretty good job ?
Of course, you have to finish with fine emery, and then go to your hones, and set the bevel, and hone.......
ANYONE OUT THERE that have something to say about about the Dremel Abrasive Buffs ?
THANKS.......Marko.
(PS.....I'm talking about their 511E & 512E)...........

I've been using them for a while now and like them. They have enough play to them to work a hollow blade nicely.
The brown ones cut pretty fast, but you need to be aware of heat; it can get hot quickly. The purple ones seem to give a nice satin finish that easily polishes up. Just be VERY cautious as to the direction they are turning. Since they are a loose mesh style buff, they can catch an edge quickly (especially with a spike tip).
Have to give them a thumbs-up!

THANKS ALLEN !.....You covered EVERYTHING I was thinking about !
When I started experimenting with them, the first thing I noticed was the "heat" !......(think temper)......although I don't think it makes enough heat to
worry about, if you're careful.
Second......I learned (the hard way) that if you're not paying attention to the way the buff is turning, It'll DAMN-SURE hook up on a leading edge !
.....But I really think I'm on to something.........
Started restoration on a couple razors tonight, and removed LOT'S of rust & pitting........(just to get me started) !
Think I mentioned it in another thread, but my sister-in-law's Brother recently moved to the "other side of the lawn"......he was a barber, and I ended up with his razors. Well, he's been retired for a lot of years, so when the razors were dragged out of the attic (in a shoe-box) you can imagine what they looked like !
