    Default Work in progress

    I thought I'd take a shot on making some scales too. I got some bog oak that I started out with. I hope to fit a W&B blade that I have salvaged from a chip in the new scales;

    Mock up.

    The blade

    Still need to coat the scales though, haven't fully decided on how yet... Epoxy.. CA... last thing I saw was Autocoat and Nail laquer... so many options...

    I like those bog oak scales. It gives a kind of "fairy tale look" to that razor!

    Bog oak screams for a natural matte finish. If I were you I'd go with linseed or tung oil.

    Oh how I wish you had said that a few hours ago... I didn't even think of it myself, and I have a jar of linseed in a drawer... Started coating it with CA earlier tonight, and am NOT pleased with the result so far

    The CA finish will look like crap until you sand and polish it. Don't start worrying just yet.
