    Default finish inside scales ?

    What is the thinking on finishing the inside of newly made wood scales?

    You want to finish the inside of the scales so that water won't damage them.

    It must be done in my opinion. If I do a CA finish, I CA the insides first. If it's a Poly finish, I poly the whole thing every coat. So on and so forth...

    I think if you only finish the outside the scales are only half finished. As has been said the inside needs protection too. You wouldn't want those pretty wood scales to rot from the inside would you?

    I finish the inside of all my scales. I do epoxy on the outside and urethane on the inside, or oil all around.
