Mixing metals
Hi Gents,
Sorry to innundate you all with my newbie questions!
I have founda local supplier for #0 washers and 0-80 hex machine screws and hex nuts, but they are in stainless steel. With this be a problem if I use the washers with brass rod? I know that there are issues sometimes with mixing metals (see copper with anything else besides copper! Don't ask how I found that out!).
Thanks again!
Mark

Stainless (in most of its forms) is garvanically neutral. In layman's terms, this means it won't cause any headaches when in contact with other metals.

Thanked: 22When Josh did a blade resto for me a few months ago, he replaced the pins and they look to be brass with stainless washers, so I think you should be good. Might have been nickel plated pins but IDK.

Thanked: 150You'll be fine.
Stainless pins on the other hand would give you a bit of a headache.

Thanks guys! Unfortunataly, the company who told me they have everything actually lied to me just to get me in the store (apparently I got the owner of the store at 8 a.m. today) and the sales rep told me that he does this on occassion.
I just called Microfasteners.com (had to leave a message?) to place an order...it will be all brass.
Thanks again.
