Thanked: 735Regular CVS superglue works just as well as "professional grade" CA. I've used both.
Personally, I tried the medium weight stuff, and it went on too thick for my tatses.

Thanked: 351Medium is a rather loose term unfortunately.... each manufacturer will have their own formulas and there can be quite a difference between them.
Any of the "Super Glues" that come in a very small tube with a warning of "Bonds skin instantly" can be assumed to be CyanoAcrylate glue. Normally you'll see cyanoacrylate somewhere on the package but not always I guess. There are other glues such as the polyurethane glues that may have the word "super" in it's description, but they are not cyanoacrylates and cannot be used in the same manner.
Local sources other than the big box stores would be hobby shops, the kind that sell model airplane kits and the like.
I think most of the generic big box store type CA glues will have something that is a wee bit thicker than the water thin stuff you can get from hobby shops and the like. The thin version from Mercury is great but it would take more layers than I would care to apply to finish a set of scales with it. It also dries rather quickly and tends to go whitish if it's really humid in the shop.
Regards

Thanked: 0CA=POSSIBLE FIRE
if you would like more info on ca , check out penturners.org its usually the choice of finish. it also has alot of info on sanding sealers ..spray lacquer with airbrushes...........reason for posting though is to warn about.....ca can get hot enough when using paper towels to actually start a fire if dropped in to a waste can. this has just recently happened to one of our penturning forum members..........thanks greg
