Microscope magnification
What mag microscope would be necessary or preferred in viewing the edge?
Just curious.
Thanks,

Thanked: 346About 40x is sufficient to inspect for nicks and to make sure the bevel looks well-formed. If you actually want to see how sharp it is you'll need an electron microscope at about 3000x.

Thanked: 2209I use a 30X handheld micrscope, available on Ebay for $10-$15. It tells me everything I need to know.

That sounds like a reasonable price point to me.
Thanks Randy,

I have heard the Proscope is the cat's whiskers. A hefty price tag on it though. Anyone have hands on experience with this ?
