    Default Microscope magnification

What mag microscope would be necessary or preferred in viewing the edge?
    Just curious.

    Thanks,

About 40x is sufficient to inspect for nicks and to make sure the bevel looks well-formed. If you actually want to see how sharp it is you'll need an electron microscope at about 3000x.

I use a 30X handheld micrscope, available on Ebay for $10-$15. It tells me everything I need to know.

That sounds like a reasonable price point to me.

    Thanks Randy,

I have heard the Proscope is the cat's whiskers. A hefty price tag on it though. Anyone have hands on experience with this ?
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
