Default Anyone ever use bead caps?

Have you ever used bead caps like these to add a decorative touch to your pinning? Can they be hammered flat? How big is the hole, typically?

Used these to pin my first rescale.
They were copper and hammered flat fine.
The hole was a bit smaller than 1/16" (1.6mm) and had to be drilled out.

I used them as a learning exercise and one of the things I learned was that some copper alloys are too soft use as a pin washer. The more I tap them the more they deform and I couldn't get a nice, tight pivot.

Maybe pewter or sterling silver next time.
