Will metal polish ruin goldwash?
Hey guys, I'm very new at this and just bought my first old(
) razor off e-bay. New it had some issues before I got it but I need some help. Honing the blade i can do but am worried about polishing off the blade markings. Any idears would be great. Also the scale pin is very loose. How hard is that to fix. I've only seen it done on Lynn's video but have no experince.

Thanked: 416Gold wash is an issue that has been discussed many times on this forum but yes metal polish will pretty much do away with your gold inlay.

Will metal polish ruin goldwash?
When I clean razors with a gold wash I have a felt rotary mop that has a point. I use this to go around the edges of the gold wash. You could use a q-tip & do it by hand.
If there is any rust coming through the gold wash I use soft rotary bristle bush
You could use a dry toothbrush.
Tightening the pin can be easy or a real problem because it depends on the wear in the pin.
It could be just a gentle few tap with a hammer & everything is fine!
But I have had some turn to one side & catch the scales on closing.
If it closing centrally & not flopping about you should be fine.
