Default The scales came off my LeGrelot 1/4 grind

I then installed a set of horn scales, with diamond shaped ivory inlay from an old Marshes Pond works!

The brass wedge adds a bit of heft to the new scales. They weight exactly the same as the originals--15grams.

The scales were in rough shape to begin with, but some oil, and some sanding had them to a nice luster once again in no time!

    Sera,

While those repairs do look fine indeed, could you let the other of us Le Grelot users how the scales fell off in the first place? I am not in your league of craftspersonship and likely would have to fashion something much more crude, possibly out of an old 2x4 or something similar. Being in that circumstance, it would be to my advantage to know how I can avoid finding myself in that circumstance (??).

That was more of a "bait" in the tag line to get folks to look.

I said they came off, not fell off...

They "came off" after a filed the pin down! I don't think you have anything to worry about with your Grelot!
