what do you rub on plastic handles?
you know the old plastic handles on razors? I got one that was fairly decent but somebody had put their initials in one scale, I sanded them both out, think I'm to 800 grit now. what I noticed though was that handling the blade and such I transfer the dirtiness to the handle. but I then have to sand the handle to get it off, fine right now as progressing up in grits, however it seems like it needs to be sealed or waxed or?????
suggestions?

Thanked: 13249A few things work well, MAAS, Flitz and of course the actual plastic headlamp polish that you find in auto parts stores...All of these will clean and polish most any scales, for protection after, the Renaissance Wax (crazy expensive) is the best , but most any paste wax will work also....
BTW you want to get up to at least 1500 -2000 grit paper then go with the above stuff....Last edited by gssixgun; 09-23-2008 at 11:34 PM.

Thanked: 586There is a kit of pieces of very fine sanding cloth in progressive grits that was designed for polishing scratches out of plastic lenses and windows. It is called MicroMesh and is available from Woodcraft:
Micro-Mesh Sanding Kit - Woodcraft.com
I have the large kit and use it frequently on woods, plastcs and metals. The kit comes with two pieces of each grit from 1500 through 12000. I ahave been using my kit fr a least five years now and am still on the frst set. It is truly a good value. I recommend it very highly.
