Red face Help out a newbie?

I bought a Wade and Butcher 7/8 Celebrated Hollow Ground razor. The blade looks to be in great shape (a couple of small edge nicks and a patina), but I tried putting it on a hone and it doesnt lay flat on either side. If I have the blade on the hone, the middle will be sitting correctly but the heel of the blade and the tip of the blade will be off the hone by about 1/32nd-1/64th of an inch.

Does this require a regrind, or should I just hone it until it is flat?

Hi! Try this set of vids from HeavyDuty...there is a section on using a rolling X pattern to hone a warped/uneven blade. It is a similar motion you'd use for a blade with a "smile" (a curved blade).

That's probably how this razor was honed, and the reason it is not honing the way I'm used to. I expected a "smiling" razor to hone the same as my two regular straights. I was wrong

Thanks for the great link, it is now in my favorites.
