    Default New Scales?

Glen will know that I've been asking all sorts of annoying questions and bothering people to no end about the exact science of pinning and repinning. I've acquired a red imp with a beautiful blade and fairly good scales but they seem to have some quirks. First off, the wedge is loose enough that it will twist and rotate slightly and this causes the blade to have difficulty closing without coming in contact with the wedge. Also, one side of the scales is mounted slightly higher, its every so slight but I assume that it may be the wedge to blame and perhaps one scale is under more tension, causing it to bow less and appear to rise slightly higher. All of these problems could be resolved with new scales. I do like the vintage look of it but depending on the practicality, I may prefer to put new scales on it instead of working with the imp's current set. I tried searching in the gallery for the nicest looking red imps but "red" and "imp" were not searched because they are "too common" or something like that so that was an utter failure. Does anyone know of a red imp that has been rescaled? what kinds of materials go well with the "red" of it? I dont know much about woods and I think something slightly reddish would be nice but which one? I'm more interested in woods then anything for scales and would probably epoxy it. Can someone show me some purdy woods or what?

    thanks,
    -alex

Exotic woods is a good place to purchase wood. http://www.exoticwoods.com/home.php?cat=52

They have a nice variety and you can buy them in 1/8" thin slices. Bloodwood has a nice red color, you may like it.

How big are the slices? I looked at the web site and it's confusing.
    Thank you
