Keep the stamp or remove pitting?
I have a very nice Torrey blade that the stamp has nearly disappeared on. I am faced with the choice of removing the pitting and losing the stamp.
Is it worth it?
I think I would prefer to keep the stamp to be honest. What do others prefer?

Pitting on the tang is not a functional problem, so the choice has to be made: what looks best:
- a tang without pitting and stamp (making the blade anonymous)
- a tang with pitting and stamp
I always keep the stamps.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Keep the stamp. I would just knock off any bad rust and keep the tang the way it is, assuming it is not too bad. Most of my razors have some cosmetic issues but I dont mind it. I dont likr to remove scales unless I have to.

I would vote to keep the stamp. I have quite a few razors with pitting that honed up fine and shave well. Also if you ever wanted to sell or trade the razor a stamped Torrey with pitting is more movable then an unstamped polished razor IMHO.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

ditto - keep the stamp. I feel that making it a no name razor would really take it's "character" down. Keep the battle scars and the identity.
Remember what happened to Michael Jackson when he tried to improve his appearance? Same thing IMO.

Sorry I can't post a picture - the stamp is so faint that I can't get it to come out on a photo - It looks more like it was etched than stamped really.

Thanked: 53Another vote to keep the stamp. I like character in blades - if I ever want a spotless razor I'll buy a brand new one.
