Thanked: 0first post ever (and a lot of work to do!)
Hi guys!
I'm an italian Guy that felt in love with the straight razor world.
I'd very like to have one, but, due to the cost of the "equipement" I have wait a lot before buying my firs SR.
But God knows me and my needs, so in a little market of antiquaria stuff I've found this magnificent (and VERY CHEAP, near 7 dollars) DOVO.
It isn't in good condition,as you can see in the pictures, but I want to bring it to its past glory, at any cost.
I'd like to knouw from you nearly EVERYTHING I can do for my new shaving friend... I don't know much of re-habilitating old blades like this one.
So... there are the pictures. Get it on!
Thanks in back for any question.

I'd like to know, if possible, how I can find out some dating information for this blade
Enjoy!

I believe Seraphim has a Wusthof, but the spelling might be different. He loves his, and wrote up a little review if I recall correctly. Let me see if I can find the link.
Not the link to Seraphim's writeup, but lots of good info here http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...rd-1933-a.htmlLast edited by holli4pirating; 11-18-2008 at 03:52 PM.

If you are available, be sure to come to the razor restoring internet chat room tonight at 8 pm Eastern (10 hours from now)
There are always a handful of people who have taken razors such as yours and turned them into beautiful and operational razors.
Restoration chat is here, just click the button and enter a username when prompted. No password is needed.
Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

I'm gonna have to jummp on there too if I can get the time from my meetings, got a few questions too.
My only recommendation, since all I've done is some minor sanding, is to take the pivot pin out and repin it later. no matter how much work I do I can't get the entire blade polished to my satisfaction when it is pinned in.

Yeah, that's not a Dovo but a Wüsthof- unless Dovo made those... Anyway, I'd rather have a Wüsthof than a Dovo, so you are probably in luck there. It will need a lot of sanding it looks like. I would suggest getting Bill Ellis' restoration cd- Straight Razor Book

Congrats and welcome!
That's a bit of a score you got there. Wusthof's are great shavers, and they make excellent cutlery. I have two Wusthof razors. One just came off the bench, although it wasn't as far gone as yours looks.
For sure read up as much as you can about sanding and polishing. Check out the Wiki for lots of answers.
You should be able to bring that razor to shave ready with a little work.
