    Default Are tumblers loud?

I was thinking about picking up on of these tumblers that seem to work so well. How loud are they?

I would have to keep it in the basement next to my room (Yes... I live at home) and was wondering if it would be loud enough to bother me or someone on the floor above?

I guess I could put it in the garage. Would the cold winter have any ill effects on the tumbler or if polish was used with it?

slightly quieter than a vacuum cleaner. they are pretty loud, but it's a lower pitched noise, so it's not as bothersome. the tumbler itself is not as loud as any object that touches the tumbler (eg the table it's sitting on) if they start to vibrate.

the cold weather will make the polish more viscous, but i don't have any data for you regarding the impact this will have on polishing effectivity.

I have mine in the garage area attached to our home. I agree with Jockeys description on the noise level. You can definitely hear it in the kitchen (the closest room to the attached garage) when the garage door is closed, but it's not bad.

If you had it running in a basement below a room that was occupied on a regular basis (bedroom or livingroom), I think you'd have a problem or complaints by others.

The media you are using effects the noise level, too. The ceramic media from harbor freight is *loud*. Walnut and corn cob media are very quiet.

Thanks for the very good descriptions!

Unfortunately it would be under the kitchen and my mother has ears like a bat! I will probably hold off on one for now.

I guess I should earn my dues with some elbow grease anyways, lol
