Default First Restore - J. Wostenholm

As the title says, this is my first restoration. I'm only going to post a few before and after pictures, but in my profile album, i have pictures of each grit along the progression. The last 2 pics are with 2 applications of MAAS metal polish. It needs more apps but i got anxious to hone so i started setting a bevel on it last night.

Anyhow, since the razor is over 150 years old, i wanted to preserve the scales and since there is a crack on the backside, exactly along the pivot pin, i did not want to punch the pin out for fear of splitting the scale, so i covered the areas on the scales that may be hit by sandpaper with electrical tape. I did the same for the inside of the scales when getting the spine and belly around the tang. To do so, i just put sandpaper around a cedar shim cut to desired thickness.

I will post more pictures around Xmas when i get my new camera which will be better than any of the ones used for these pictures. Also, it will be honed around then when i get my new Coticule at Xmas as well.

    Anyhow, here we go...
The Maas are the ones with the PBR, the other finished are just after 2000 grit.... all was done by hand.
