Boker in Tulipwood

This one is going to a friend up here in Sandpoint Idaho for Christmas !!!
His wife works with me at the Ford Dealership and she has been wanting to get him a straight razor for awhile, since he expressed interest in them at one of the company parties...

This is a Boker Hollow Grind that had some wavy edge problems, YES I did "breadknife" it and straighten up the edge...

I used some Tulipwood that Icedog/Brad had sent me some time ago for the scales (Thanks again) I really like the contrasting grain on this stuff....I used a hand rubbed Tung oil finish on this one, but I lost count of how many coats are on it... The wedge is Bloodwood with brass liners, the design of the scales is the newest one that I have been working with, kind of a scimitar look to them, but I have been changing the pivot end designs with each new set I make....One thing that I like about this design is the balance, you can adjust the balance point quite easily by some quick sanding and shaping on the swell of the wood by the wedge end...
The blade itself started with some staining and some slight pitting, most came out in the "wash" and I am pretty happy with the outcome ... All the hardware is of course brass to match the liners, and I used double stacked washers on conventional peened pins....

What sticks out to me and I think really shows great detail is the brass spacers in the wedge ...

BEAUTIFUL WORK GLEN!!!! The blade looks good but those scales......AWESOME! I love your wedge work and that will be a real happy man when he opens that package up and sees a GLEN'S special in the box.

I commend glen's evangelism, it's a great thing to spread the Good News of straight shaving to the benighted.

If I was to get any reaction to my shaving practices other than, "That's insane!" from a relative or acquaintance, I stand ready to emulate gs6gun's example.
