    Default reshaping tips?

Okay, did some searching on here and saw that some of you have reshaped razor tips, but didn't see any pictures. I was wondering how well they turned out and hoped people had some pics. obviously that heribert wacker does it, but I'm betting he annealed them first.

I know the blade has to be kept really cool. not sure how to do that, water and power tools you know. interesting combination.

just thinking. don't like round points that much. I've got a buttload of razors now, should have some to experiment with.

I did an antonberg that had a pretty good chip in the toe. Was pretty simple, just used a dremel with a silicon carbide grinding wheel on it, the metal near the edge is so thin it goes away very quickly. I tried not to remove a lot of metal, but I didn't use any cooling methods like water or anything while I did it. Also just made sure that the rotation of the grinding wheel was so it was going in the direciton of spine to edge where it made contact with the steel. After the dremel a little hand sanding with course grit to finer grit and final polishing and you can remove all of the scratches. I didn't remove anything from the thickest part of the spine at near the toe, only the thinner blade and just angled it toward the spine slightly to remove the chip.

Here is the thread showing the razor I did this to.

I did an Electric razor, it came out pretty well and I didn't use water to cool it or anything. Just go slow and you should be fine if you have some experience with rotary tools. The thread is below, and it has details in it if you like.

I have removed large and small chips with the D8C diamond plate. I have seen The Topher use the dremel and he keeps a glass of ice water (filled with water and ice cubes) and when he feels the blade getting warm he dips it into the glass.

He does this polishing with the dremel as well. When I eventually start trying to polish, as shown in Lynn's video, I will use the ice water routine as well. Seems like a good idea. An ounce of prevention and all of that.

I have reground a couple of them. One was a stainless Henckels Spanish point that had a broken point, cut it off to a spike. The other was a NOS Dorko round point that had a crack on the very tip. I reground it to a Spanish point. I used a Dremel with a diamond cutting wheel to make the initial cut. I cut them with a water wash running on the blade to keep it cool. It throws water everywhere but if you get it hot, you burn the temper and it is trash. Once cut, I used a fine stone on the Dremel to do the final shaping then a couple of polishing wheels (fine stone wheels not the cloth wheels with rogue) and then some rogue to finish them up.

I will search for the post and drop a link.
