Thanked: 0A few ebay restores...
So, I just completed a few ebay restores. Both of these suckers were had for under 15 dollars via auction, and both came to me with a few issues.
The Imperial has a small pin issue that I am still working on fixing. Somewhere along the line someone has added a little washer to the scales. It works, and the scales are pretty tight, but it will need repinning to be 100% perfect. It may also need a rescale.
Before:
After:
The second was a Wade and Butcher that came with it's share of horrendous pitting and staining on the upper half of the blade. The pits proved to be a scary ordeal, and after six or so hours of low grit hand sanding, I gave up trying to pull out more metal from the blade face. It had faint etching on the blade before the pitting started, some of it was preserved and some not. The sheer weight of this blade trumps both my Amor 87, and my Imperial. It's like holding a brick in your hands.

Both of these blades need a final honing to reestablish the edge, as they are not shave ready quite yet.
These are also my first restores...

Nice first go at it. Yes there comes a point after much metal removal where you decide it will do and still shave nicely. Alot of us are more into the shave then the aesthetics. I for one do not really care for shiny polished razors. I like the satin look for sure.

Nice work! I don't really go for mirror blades either. I polish them up and put an edge on them. I bet they'll shave great when honed.
