    Default Restoring first razor

    I have started restoring my first razor. It's a Torrey just like the one below, but it was not in good shape when I got it. This picture is actually of one that someone here won on fleaBay last month.



    Anyway, when making wood scales, is it common practice to start with 1/8 veneers? Or is a little thicker preferred? My local WoodCraft store carries 1/8 and 1/4 wood veneers.
