Default Ok, I have the razor . . . now where do I start?

Ok guys, I have recently purchased a couple of razors in order to learn the gentlemanly pursuit of razor restoration. However, rather than jump in with the sand paper, etc; I wanted ask where you would start? I'm fine working on the scales, its working with the blade that's new to me.

I'm not sure if this razor is worth restoring to a near mint condition; however, this is my aim. So here is my question: if you where going to restore this blade to a mirror finish, what would you do?

I'd buy Bill Ellis' restoration cd and read up.

Lol, do you know something? I have Bill Ellis' restoration CD; however, I have never got round to watching any of it -- I completely forgot.

I'm sure that it's a great place to start, thanks for the reminder.

    Good advice.

A few guys are getting a nice finish with brass tumblers too.

Just bear in mind a mirror finish will show any & every blemish.

Heh, the scales disappeared a while ago. I have made my first set, I'm fairly happy with the result.

I'm currently working on a mother of pearl inlay; however, its quite fiddly. I have no problem with the wood side of things -- I enjoy making violins -- however, working with metal is a new experience.

I'm currently watching the DVD. It's really making me itch to get going.
