Thread: Can anyone tell me something about this stone and can it be used?

I'm trying to save a little cash on honing supplies and found this stone, I would like know if I can use it.

It's looks like a real mess to me and I don't know what grade it is. Can this stone be cleaned up and is it suitable for honing straight razors?
