My Try at Restoring a Wade & Butcher's Bow Razor and case.
OK great news, Today I got 2 packages in the mail. 1) was from Jimbo, It was a Roo Strop and some Extra Roo Leather to make a case or 2. 2) was a Wade & Butcher's Bow Razor I got off ebay.
Here You can see the Roo Leather for 2 cases & a cap for the box the W&B came in. When the razor got here the scale broke at the pivet pin. No big deal, I was going to take it apart anyway. The Blade wasn't bad to my eyes, But I will clean it up more.
here is some pic's of the razor, The tang (both sides, this for now still uploading pic's)
More Pic's to come....

Here You can see the slight smile near the Toe of the Razor. To me thats no big deal. The edge did cut arm hair and almost passed the TPT. Also the blade doesn't have any rust or pits, the pin hole is a little big. That can be fixed.
This is one of the scales being Glued on to a Red Elm board, After both scales cur for 2 days I'll cut the pieces 3/16" from back of scale . This will give me some wood to strengthen the scales, but still keep the ones that came with it use able.
I'll post more as the work goes on...

The seller had it as a Simmons Hardware Co razor. That is what is on the box the razor came with. Lucky Me...
did some sanding with 100 grit paper and steel wool 0000 looks way better then when it got here... Will be cutting the scales Tuesday... I moved the wood closer to the heater to cure the glue faster. then on to sanding/shaping then testing the fit. then comes finishing then honing/stropping. The edge doesn't feel that bad so I'm going to try light honing with my stone that is soaking in water now then hit it on a pasted strop then the Roo, test shave and see what I do next...Send it out for better honing or send it out to have the smile straightened & re-beveled then honed.

I know the scales look like poopee but I'm going to re do them. Got a piece of copper rod to use as pins just to test and see how it looks. I'm going to make up other scales till I get with I like, Not that I don't like these, I DO......
The razor passed the TPT so I shaved WTG. Not that bad, but needs more work on the edge. I finished the shave w/WAPI. I Re-TPT and spent sometime on the paddle pasted strop. After about 100 passes The TPT felt way better. I'll PPS (Paddle pasted strop) another 300 time then test shave again, So looking at a Friday Shave with it....Last edited by mysticguido; 02-11-2009 at 10:17 PM.

Did some more honing & stropping the razor today. The edge is coming along nicely. I'm using my other WAPI that hasn't been shaved with yet to be my sharp guide. The edge is passing the TPT , but the HHT. I then did a test shave on my cheeks. I did the left side first, then went back to the hone & strops.
I did 20 laps on hone, 10 laps pasted paddle strop, Then about 10 laps on the roo strop. After which I the test shaved the other side of my face. It took WTG, ATG, XTG to get BBS shave. Little more work Tonight and it should be nicely and sharp for Tomorrows full test Shave. Well be post it in here and in the SOTD thread.
