    Default Best method for cleaning jimps

    I just picked up a couple of razors off ebay. All of them have jimps of some size or another (some really fine, others quite large). All are caked with gunk. Any suggestions on how to clean these out and get some shine in there.

    I was thinking of starting with the brass bristle brush attachment with my dremel.

    It would be nice to have something to let the blades soak in to soften up the gunk for easier removal. Any suggestions on something like this would be helpful as well.

    hoppes #9 solvent (NOT the kind with ammonia) and then use a wirebrush on your dremel. that always sorts it out for me. final polishing with 0000 steel wool.

    I loosen it up with some wire wool dipped in oil, let it soak for a bit, blot it and use the wire brush on it - the brass one leaves a gold colour behind in my experience - not a problem though if you are going to polish it all afterwards. Thos little fibre-glass nibbed pens for modellers are quite good too.

    A wire wheel to get out rust or gunk, and a buffing wheel to shine them up.

    I bought this one on e-bay. Works pretty good for light clean-ups.
