Thanked: 6Turtle wax compound
I'm getting ready to head out to my local auto supply store to pick up some Turtle Wax Premium Rubbing Compound to put in my brass tumbler along with a couple of blades. Has anyone actually used this product in their tumbler? Is there another product that appeals to the majority? They also make a Heavy Duty Compound. Your thoughts?

Thanked: 74I used half a tub of the red rubbing compound (not sure if that is the premium or not) in the walnut shells. I haven't used it much though, since I discovered how effective home made 600 grit sanding drums are with my dremel.

I have used it (the liquid compound) with corncob media (the pet litter stuff) and gotten excellent results. It's slow going - I usually let my blades run for a week or so.

Thanked: 13245Inside that ridiculously long thread
you will find several different things that were used, if you are going to use the Turtle Wax stuff get the liquid it is way easier to load...(I use that)
Aaron found some 20 mic diamond compound that seems to work as a booster to the walnut for cleaning also....

I have used the liquid on a paper towel by hand. I like the stuff.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
