Yet another wacky thought
I am in need of spacers/wedges for my scales. The post about guitar picks got me to thinking, which is dangerous cause it causes me sleepless nights.
Anyhoo. A thought occurred to me. BUTTONS, 4 BLESSED HOLE BUTTONS!!
Sure as shootin', I went down to the button store, what you don't have one, and picked out some beauties. The fit the radius of the scales and they are already drilled, albeit 1/8", nothing that epoxy or a sleeve can't handle.
But SW they are convex on the back. Sand it down. Limited waste, fairly cheap, and easy to use.
I picked up some nice blue marbled ones and some black ones and some brown wood type marbled ones. About 2mm wide perfect.
I will of course post pics when I have them done.

Here's how I've been doing wedges lately. I set my table saw at 2 degrees and run whatever hard wood I'm using through. Turn the piece of wood around so the bevel you just cut is against the fence. Put in a spacer piece of wood the length of your beveled piece. Set your blade over past your spacer so it is now cutting a second 2 degree bevel to complete a wedge strip. Then cut the strip into your wedges. I hope this makes sense If anyone is interested I'll try to get some pictures.
