So I spent a couple hours yesterday working on one of my razors with 80 grit completely dry and then tried 120 with some machine oil. definitely saw a difference. I did a circular motion with the 80 grit and some of the scratches are being stubborn to get out, any tips to help me remove them with a minimum of damage to the razor?

Took care of a lot of the blackness on the blade, but still have some pits that I may leave, i don't want to lose the engraving on the face and I'm ok with a less than perfect razor for a starter. Even with the mini pits and sanding scratches the blade looks 100% better - I'll take new photos once I get it up to 600 grit.

The one spot that is really bugging me though is around the circle towards the heel end of the blade. In half of the round engraving it's like caked in dirt is stuck (blackness, anyway) and I want to clean it up, but again am worried about losing the engraving. I know the picture is lousy (and is from before sanding began), but any tips?
