Default 7 day set value ruined :)

All right guys, did this the other day, reshaped one day of my 7 day set. I don't like round tips. eventually they will all be something other than round. I guess now I can just sell them individually

it was 5/8 instead of 6/8 like the rest, figured play with the odd duck. 180 grit belt (my finest before really fine) on the belt grinder, little bit/cool, little bit/cool. never got hot, definitely never got color. muted the point with some 220 grit paper by hand.

Heh, still a 7-day set in my book, who wants the same thing for breakfast every day of the week?

Looks like you did a nice job. When you get to a certain age and you realize that you aren't going to be here forever and you can't take any of this stuff with you when you go what you do with stuff seems less important. That is assuming you have no one in particular to leave it to. Just enjoy it while you're here.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

+1! I was thinking the same yesterday, before this thread and even if I am 31. Now I can say that I am "prepared"..

I completely agree, and as I have two daughters I'll likely not have anybody to worry about passing them to. I can always get more. I am going to enjoy this, I'm gonig to sell them as I finish playing with them, fund others. and use the case as a reference to build a new one for my "good" blades. :-)

    Thanks guys.

..with 7 daughters it would probably be different, but.. in your case.. 7/2..
Did you post detailed pics of the case somewhere? ..I would appreciate so much..

    You bet man

I'm not sure if I'll have to totally disect it to figure out how it was done or not, but the inserts seem pretty straight forward. I think on mine, if I ever make it, I'll have to make left side spaces wider to accomodate the wider scale materials some of them have. I'd like to make one out of lignum vitae, because it smells so nice, but I'm not sure how big a piece I could find it in.

WOOOOWW!! Thank you!!! Fantastic! I am going to ask you a special permit to reproduce it!

I was thinking about the same: how to manage very different blades in the same case. I would (if I 'll obtain that permit..) probably separe the case from two "spacers" inside the case. In this way I could use the same case even in case of changes of my rotation/collection. I would have to prepare just new spacers. Spacers could be in wood, in wood or paper covered with velvet, in leather.. mmm... We should start a project!!! Come on: open a new thread! ..and give me that permission!

    thank you!

Of course man, and if I dissect it I'll get you some great pics.

here was what I was thinking, let's see if I can explain it. the spacers at the left side, whatever we want to call that, looks like the cloth is wrapped around them continuous from one end of case to the other, on their vertical faces. then the top part is just a seperate piece glued on. My thinking was that there has to be a way to make the spacers as seperate pieces. then depending on your razors drill through the bottom of the box, attach them using some nice brass screws countersunk into the bottom of the case.

I think instead of covering in leather I want to make mine out of lignum vitae. local shop says they have a block about 8x7x5. it needs to be cut and dried hopefully so it doesn't warp too much. it smells fantastic and is self-waxing. It has a cool green color when it oxidizes. I talked to the guy at the wood place today and he said that if you place the cut wood in the sunlight it will turn green again faster.

all things are great in theory though, still have a hotrod that needs to be worked on.

Thank you! Very good. I'll make more space into my head for this idea.. I am also thinking about using some fabric with nice patterns.. I 'll come back in a few weeks with more resources.. eheh!
