Thanked: 0I just got my order from Widget Supply yesterday. I bought a 4oz ball peen hammer, a bench block for peening, a split mandrel to try for sanding, some Flitz and some rare earth magnets. I have guests coming in this weekend and won't be able to use any of my new toys for almost a week.
For my work area I've set up a spot in my basement. I picked up a Black and Decker Workmate and a couple of pieces of 2x2 plywood to make interchangeable tops. One has my scrollsaw bolted to it and one is just a plain work surface. It is nice and compact and gives me access to all the stuff I'll need without too much setup. I need to get a light to mount nearby and I'll be set.Last edited by ranlome; 04-08-2009 at 06:44 PM.

Thanked: 60the 4oz ball peen hammer, can one try a smaller peen hammer or going smaller than 4oz is just not heavy enough?
the 4oz still looks large to me and would like a smaller one so that i don't ruin the scales while peening.

Let me tell you one thing. It's another addiction. It doesn't just end with just the dremel and the scrollsaw. Before you know you'll start wondering where in Gods name you're going to store all the tools, accessories and products. It's a never ending spending spree!
Take it for what it's worth.

Thanked: 402So true!
After a while you notice what you really need and its getting fewer though.
Since I don't have a workshop really and I have to pull things out when I need them, it boiled down to my Proxxon, mostly with the sky blue silicone lentils for sanding, some very small screw drivers, an ordinary hammer and an axe to use as an anvil, small things like different grades of very fine sand paper, dental floss, camellia oil, CrOx and the like.
The other things mostly stay on the shelf.

Thanked: 74I built myself a jig for holding the razor while I sand it. Bill Ellis has instructions here. Best thing I have done for myself in a while.
