    Default Sunday night update

Well, I'm almost finished with the 400 grit and I'm calling it a day. Going great so far. There's a bit of porosity in a few places, but I don't want to remove any more metal. It's a very hollow grind. I'm sure it'll still look great when it's finished. Got the chips out and the edge flat and profiled. I like a slight smile and a softened tip. I can't wait to get this one finished.

    Default Nice Save

    Well done there Paul.
I've had a couple or 3 go South. They still shave just as well a little shorter.
    Nice sanding jig btw.

    Default Ready for scales!

OK, this is as far as I'll go for now. Got all of my sanding and most of my polishing finished. Got a nice bevel set, and a bald spot on my arm Gonna get 'er scaled up and finish honing and do a final polish. Thinking about ordering some of the pre-made Dovo scales, maybe in bone. Any opinions on that?

That looks great! I can't speak to the scales, but you've done a heck of a job on the blade.

I've got to say, that's a fine job whether it's your 1st or 100th go! You've set yourself some standard for the scales now though!

You need to measure the distance from the pivot hole to the toe of the razor...
I know that that Ads for the Dovo scales say there is no hole drilled and honestly I haven't used them in 2 years but you need to make sure before you order about what sizes they will fit and if the pivot hole is actually pre-drilled....

    Nice work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been a good long time since I posted on this blade. I started a new career in May and have been really busy learning a whole new field after being in the same job for 17 years before that. Anyhow, I finally got around to scaling and honing the D. Peres blade. Scales are walnut, pins are brass, washers are steel, wedge is a piece of clear polycarbonate I sanded down from an eyeglass lens(in honor of my new profession). Came out pretty well for a first scale attempt I think.
