    Default Acrylic Scales

    Hey Guys,
I'm new to the straight razor scene and would apreciate some advice from you guys in the workshop forum. My first razor came from eBay and arived with the scales broken, so i have had an attempt at making my own using acrylic. I'm pretty happy with them, but i wondered if you guys with experience can give me any feedback. Are there any problems with using acrylic that I'm not aware of,or are there any major design flaws with the shape that haven't occured to me? I'll attatch a couple of photos.
The blade was brought back to life by my mate onimaru55 (g'day Oz).

    Thanks
    Baldy.

They look cool! How does it balance with the holes? other than that, could we get a photo of the wedge end?

    Default Wedge

I used clear acrylic for the wedge. It looks pretty cool. Hope you can see it ok.

Very nice restore! Job well done! Sorry I can give any feedback on possible problems as I haven't worked with acrylic for many years. One thing I remember is to keep the heat down. Heat will create stress points and possible warping (in any material) while working with it and over time. Sharp inside corners in any material may lead to cracks. Your work looks fine.

    Great outcome!
    How thick is it?
Do you find it bends more where the holes are close to the edge
or does it keep its stability?

    Great job Baldy!!
The first pic was very disturbing
Then the follow up on the new scales was absolutely smashing
the scales go nice with that matte finish.
what did you use for the pins they have that rivet look
    outstanding job.

Outstanding design , and workmanship ! I don't think you'll have any problems with the acrylic . It's pretty tough stuff .
