Leighton will steer you straight, but since you've already got links for two different material sources that sell material specifically for pinning, why not just go with one of those?

The ones I linked at classic shaving are expensive if you're working in bulk, but are about as easy as pinning gets. The site glen (gssixguns) linked for you sells brass and silver specifically for pinning. Either one is probably a good way to go for somebody new.

260 is what I use. and the #0 washers. Not sure which source is the best, but McMaster got my order to my door in 2 days. Seraphim also gets his the next and he lives on the other side of the continent.

The higher number alloy = harder brass. Lots of options!

Thanks for the advice. However, Ive always felt that knowing more and spending less are good things, especially when they're related.

That being said, I probably am. I do want to get some nickel silver.

I'm with Leighton on this one. The 260 alloy is the best all around brass alloy. Nickel silver, strangely enough, is another copper alloy, but with nickel and sometimes zinc but not silver.

Here's a link to the 360 stuff if you're interested. Copper.org: Machined Products - Automatic Screw Machine Products

And 260, otherwise known as cartridge brass. http://www.speedymetals.com/information/Material79.html
