Default Looking for some examples of ivory micarta

I just got a sheet of ivory micarta. I'm trying to decide if I want to use it or some striped maple for my Greaves, but am having trouble finding examples of the ivory micarta. There is a DOVO at Vintage Blades in ivory micarta, but was wondering if anyone had other images?

    Thanks Max.

I just did a little shaping and sanding/polishing of a small piece, to get an idea what the finished product might be like. Did yours have much of a pattern to it? Mine looks pretty uniform.

very uniform. the only pattern would be if you carved or filed anything on it. It's pretty easy to cut and sand.

Are you guys using paper or linen grade? Any remarks on the differences between the two (if you've got experience) -- aesthetics, finishing, etcetera?

    Chris,
the ivory micarta I get or use is paper based. It's extremely uniform (as to no texture at all), cut and sand somewhat faster and easier compared to linen or canvas and is easier to buff.

As to the difference. This will be a personal preference as to the texture you like. They each have their own personality. But any of the Micartas all share the same base ingredient. I will mostly fit the choice of micarta depending the blade I feel would look best with it.

Thanks, Max. I've got a couple of razors that I've thought about having the old plastic scales replaced with various colors and grades of Micarta. But, I'm trying to figure out which grade to use with each, and how to finish them too (matte versus polished).

I've done 2 razors previously in a matte finish (red linen and black canvas) and just polished up a couple of samples yesterday. Polishing makes the colors pop a lot. I'll be polishing micarta from now on I think.
