I picked up two DAs for the learning process. The scales are absolutely worthless. I guess it was either use the material as DA-scales, or make the lowest grade disposable plastic toothpicks out of it, but the Chinese association of dentists probably argued heavily against it.

The steel however is nice and it appears nice and even to me, and I'm looking forward to practice my honing on it. I'll have to check, but I believe both are fully straight, not like the ones Glen showed in the opening post. They both came from stamp222 on the 'bay.

I'm thinking of a Naniwa 3000/8000 combo stone, or perhaps two individual Naniwa's. Whatever I feel like when putting in the order, I guess.

I have a feeling most of the vintage 19th century German and English razors were made in a similar fashion

Seraphim, that's crazy how inconsistent the shoulder is eh? Some need lots of grinding and others not really any at all it looks like.

I decided to throw my DE blade in a set of beautiful yellowheart scales I screwed up when i was trying to "perfect". Function yes, still beautiful....not so much.

I had to use 2 washers on one side of the blade to get it to stop hitting the side of the scales.. Bent too much
