    Default Cleaning Advice Please

I bought a razor on ebay which has some nice manufacturer's wording on the blade in a sort of gold/yellow colour. I think this may be called a 'wash'? Pardon my hignorance

How can I clean the blade without removing the wording? It appears to be paint rather than engraving.

    What needs cleaning off?

You can't use any abrasive safely on the gold wash, so if you have any rust or pitting on the wash you need to decide whether to clean the rust or keep the gold.

You can try using oil on a cloth to clean the blade and see how much it removes.

Gold Wash is sorta like love or leave it.

If you try to clean it it will come off, if you don't it looks dirty.

Myself. I would call a jeweler and ask them how to clean gold wash.
