Saved (most of) him
So... someone sold me this on eBay for $12.50 including shipping:
arrived yesterday, went under the Dremel/ice bath/Dremel right away, and now looks like this:
See that shiny line along the edge? That IS the edge... talk about a "wire edge"! Might need to spend a few minutes on the Nortons to bring it up from fencing wire sharp.
It came with a box.. actually the box is what I bought, the chipped Boker was "included" due to it's blade damage.
Kind of cool, I've not had an original box before.
I bought some wet sandpaper progressing 220 to 1500 grit this morning to bring the polish back up as well since I left some buffing marks with my ham-handed Dremel polishing yesterday.
I think I'll call it "the straight skinny".

thanks! I love the figuring on it's spine. Wish it had jimps too... Once I get it honed and happy, see how it works for me, I've got alder scales and a checkering file in mind next.

Great job!
You sure fooled me I was thinking what a hopeless case. You definitely made lemonade out of a lemon. The spine is beautiful.
I am waiting to see the checkering file work on the alder. Are you gong to checker it like a gunstock?
