    Default Mosaic Pins?

    Hi all,
Is there a tutorial or any info out on using mosaic pins in scales? I did a limited search but I wasn't able to find anything particularly useful. From what I understand, you can buy it as a rod in varying diameters and cut and sand it down to the desired specs? Or are there actual pins that people sell for straight razors? Any help would be appreciated!

    Chris

Here's a place to start you off as I knew they had mosaics off the top of my head (it's pretty self explanatory).

You can either buy them or make your own. Essentially, you take a length of tubing, fill it with epoxy (tinted to the color of your choice), then add in smaller tubes, rods, or other shapes, to form a pattern you find pleasing. Once dry, you cut the main tubing to length. The pins are then epoxied into your handle material, but they are not peened.

Here are links to two tutorials; If you prefer to purchase the pins, Alpha Knife Supply offers a vast assortment of different sizes and patterns. The owner, Chuck Bybee is a good guy.
