Line on blade?
Once again I need to tap into the vast knowledge of our members. I'm fairly new to the straight razor world. I just received a Boker 2656 I purchased on Ebay. When I finished cleaning the blade there was still a thin line, "hair line", about a 1/2 inch long and about center line of the blade. It starts at the tip of the blade. I thought for sure the blade hard a crack in it but when I look at it with a 100 mag I still see metal in the line. It just appears the polished finish has deteriorated. Is this a crack or worn finish (pitting) due to the stain? is there any repair for it? Thanks

Martin,
it's probably a scratch. Not uncommon. Depending how deep the scratch goes if can easily be polished or buffed out with the right tools.
Can you post a pic?

Does it appear where the razor sits in the scales? I've seen that a lot on older razors. Maybe it's from corrosion/fine pitting in that area touching between the blade and the scales (especially when stored away for several years)? It should be removable with enough grit and elbow grease though.

line on blade
Sorry, not set up to upload photos. I did start sanding on it with a fine w/d paper after reading the first reply and it is slowly fading away. I'm thinking some corrosion caused by what ever caused the stain. When I cleaned the surface I didn't get down in the lower area? Sounds reasonable.
Thanks to all who replied.

If it's a good straight line there's a possibility that it was caused by the tape when it was honed. If you leave it on a little too long while honing the water can cause a line where the edge of the tape is.
