Keep in mind that many of the Vintage scales were not made of Impervious G10 and some of the near perfect materials we have now that have zip point nada change in 100 years

They had to build with a bit of "Slop" built in that we don't have to :D they had limitations that we don't now :p

I wish that a couple of Red Imp's that I have would have had more spacing when manufactured.;)

Yeah....Those Case ones shrink so hard they can break the blade.
Blade closing tight to the wedge is desirable. A few MM's out can make a big difference on balance.
But then so can having more scale south of the bottom pin.

I have matched-up my fair-share and trust me. That is only ONE thing to consider when fitting scales.
Either making or swapping. A little is fine with me if that is how it has to be.

I have done the hacksaw blade on the wedge trick but I haven't looked at them recently........

No rust on the blade though........
