Thanked: 488Oh if you ever want a good read on the use of the sword read the book written by Miyamoto Musashi called The Book Of Five Rings. He was the greatest swordsman ever in Japan.

I read that years ago and it is very informative and interesting. Funny thing about it is that I first read about it in a book review, probably NY Times, and the reviewer said that CEOs and other leading businessmen were reading it and applying the psychology and strategies that they learned from it in their business decisions.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

There is a translated version here A Book of Five Rings. I plan on giving it a read when I have a chance.

Thanked: 488I can sure believe that. What he wrote is as relevant today as it was then. It's not only a good read but it doesn't take a long time to read it. One thing that's amazing about him is his other talents. He was also an excellent painter. The book has a lot of his illustrations it.
This is my working blade but it's the one that you could shave with. The edge is so small it takes a magnifying glass to see it.
The oil is what came with the sword and also what I use on my razors.

Thanked: 488Also if you do a Google search you can find copies in PDF format you can download for free. You don't get his paintings this way but the entire book is there.

I thought it was a pretty good program, well worth watching.
What's that; no mention of "ball steel"?

Thanked: 488Olivia
A little different than that one but some of the same ideas plus a history of Japan at that time and his duels over the years. At times in the later years he would use a piece of wood shaped sword like againest a guy with a real blade. He never lost! It's a great read though
Hey Kevint you can send me that one!!!!
This is the blade I practice cutting with.
