Sure you can. It definitely helps to clean and buff the bolsters and inlays found on scales to a high shine. It will not buff as high as a plastic polish on acrylics, plastics, celluloid,.. but it can achieve some nice results.

Thanked: 13249Meguiars PlastX works great at the end on scales and is CHEAP.....
MAAS actually works pretty good as an over all polish and cleaner but for the liquid wet shine look on scales the best "product" I have found is the Novus #3 and #2 for plastics.....

It does. I have the Novus #1, #2, #3 plastic polish, Mothers plastic polish and Meguiars (I'm a car buff freak too, lol). They all work great. The idea behind it is all the same. Remove light scratches or imperfections from plastic. The Novus #3 is the coarsest of them all and can remove some heavier blemishes but it's not miracle stuff either. It does super on light blemishes. Anything that goes to deep will need to be sanded out.

Actually it does a good job at cleaning plastic scales but don't forget it has some coarseness since it is a rubbing compound and it will not shine the scales up to a high mirror gloss. But it's an excellent perfomer to clean the scales. The ideal would be to follow up the turtle wax rubbing compound with some of the plastic polish mentioned in my other threads. It could nearly replace Novus #3 in a way.
