Thanked: 0Scale damage
Hello All,
I have bought my first straight razor
(( Clauss “The Everready Razor”– 5/8” )) from a SRP forum member.
I am excited to have it finally arrive. There is an issue, though... it seems a part of the scale has become unset/unglued, perhaps during shipping. I am enclosing pictures of the scale issue. I would like to now if it is minor or major damage.
I understand there is only so much to gauge from a few blurry pictures but any information would be greatly appreciated.
Description of Problem Area: on the bottom of the scale there is a 1/2 oval shape spacer which has become unglued from one half of the scale. it is still attached to the other half of the scale.
Also, what is recommended I do to repair this? I would think a little rubber cement would do the trick. Or do I need to re-scale ?
It is my first razor , a training razor, so it is not high end but I need it to be safe when closed ( which it is not at present ).
Regards,

It would need to be peened to become troublesome and never come loose again.. You could glue it back with a waterproof epoxy but the changes of it coming loose again are real too.

Thanked: 156I am curious as to how those were originally put together. Was it "melted" together? Glued?
Anyone know?

Maybe I'm out of line here but it seems to me that the person who you purchased it from should make this right. This forum is suppose to be a place where a newbie can feel comfortable he or she is getting a quality razor at a reasonable price. How much did you pay for this razor? Did you purchase it from the classified section? Was the razor sold to you as "shave ready?" Could you post pictures of the blade? I guess when I see unpinned, inadequately glued scales being sold to a beginner, it throws up a red flag to me.
