    Default scale texturing

Here is something fun to try when making scales. Use a ball end or some other burr on the Dremel and texture/jig the surface. I think it makes for a very organic looking surface treatment. These scales are maple/textured/dyed/shellac, I am happy with the way they look.

Nice work!!!! Looks like what they call jigged bone with pocket knives. At first I thought it was some kind of pressed horn or something on that order.

When I collected pipes, we always referred to that as a "rusticated" finish. I'm a big fan when it's done well, as this appears to be.

    Good work.

A nice way to accent it, is to leave a few areas that are polished and not carved at all. Makes for a nice contrast.
