    Default Tang paint

So I'm restoring a couple (might become a few) razors, and was thinking about painting the stamping a la pearlduck and henckels. What paint works best for this? I'm not looking for "craft paint". I'm looking for answers like "acryllic this that and the other paint." Unless it REALLY doesn't matter. Because I went to the hobby store and there are like, 60 kinds of hobby paint. So what works best? (both looks wise and durability wise.)

I've always assumed that electroplating was the only option. I was not aware that a paint would be sufficiently durable.

No I meant the stamping like the writing... not the tang plating. I've seen teh DD's with blue and black, and the Henckels uses red sometimes.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some red-imps and C-Mon Blackies with red writing on the tangs, as well.

It could be a kind of melt-on enamel?

I would bet enamel for durability. A guy I knew put some gold leaf stuff on that wiped on and it looked very cool. Not sure about durability though and I don't remember the brand name.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    you mean like this?

That is spray can laq and pigment used to color hon-urushi. other stuff would not stick or give enough color, and i did not want to subject the razor to H-U curing. But then i didnt try enamel model paint

    Black is home-brew black oxide

The brand name nail polishes have some pretty good resins in them. They are decent qaulity and come in bright colors.

Almost anything will work well if it adheres well. Adhesion, in this case, has a lot to do with the pre-painting prep. Lightly sand, trying your best to get into the stamp, then degrease, then degrease again. I find acetone on a q-tip works well for dgreasing the stamps.
