I am a wiki-phobe so I will post here. Feel free to use anything if you want to.
Most safety is common sense, if it does not feel right do not do it. It is the stuff you can not see that people forget about, air borne particulates, fumes, and noise.
Some tips that I have not seen are stand to the side of buffers and grinders when using them, try to keep your face and torso out of the flight path. It is also handy to have the emergency number written down if you do not live in a 911 area. I also keep a few clean ziplocks with clean paper towels and gauze in them in my safety cabinet in case I need a container for a finger or thumb. I also keep a clean foam cup in my safety cabinet in case I get something stuck in my eye and I want to shield it on way to the hospital. (I had a small piece of cast iron stuck in my eye once, boy that rust fast) Those are my out of the ordinary tips. I like the first aid kit and eyewash to be handy.

Yea, I'm a wiki-phobe also that's why I thought this would make a good sticky. This would only make three stickys in this forum in nice bold red letters. I believe the workshop forum would be the best place for this but that is just my opinion. I understand the moderators concerns about overdoing it with stickys but there can never be too much on safety. I have looked at the wiki on safety and don't see too much there. It just makes sense to me to have it here.

Thanked: 31I'm inclined to agree, safety advice should be with the advice on how to kill yourself. Hahaha. But, I'm going to edit the Wiki later.
