Default New Kropp 7/8's, What to do??

    Hey everyone,

It's been awhile since I've posted, busy with school and being broke. Therefore, I am really excited having just picked this Kropp up intending to do a bit of a restore.

    So here it is.

There is no pitting on the blade. Just some stains mostly near the edge and notice the dark lines on the blade. Also, I think they are called jimps on the top and under side of the tang. The under side is a bit rusted. Can anybody suggest a good approach to cleaning this up? I would prefer to avoid sanding. I was thinking maybe maas and 0000 steel wool, then follow with just straight maas.

What do you guys think? I have not dealt with lines like that yet so I am in the dark as to how stubborn they will be. I want to start shaving with this asap!

Avoid steel wool, just use maas.

Some of the scratches will remain unless you sand/buff them out, but you should be able to get it looking pretty respectable with just maas. It's already in good shape.

I did give it a quick polish with maas but it seems like the flaws are a bit stubborn and maas might not cut it. I do not have a dremel so I thought there might be another alternative to just maas.

Thanks for the reply, I will try maas again.

that is a good news you don't have dremel. forget about using it. Try maas as posted early . it will clean how much it can and rest leave it alone.
