Default Need tips on cleaning bone scales

I have a set of scales that needs cleaning. They are bone with brass pins. There is a crack in the hinge pin where something sharp was dropped on it. It is stabilized, but I would like to restore the material until I can get new stuff put on them. Any tips.

CA the crack and buff op the scales with some Neets Foot oil or oil for Baseball gloves. Soap and water with an old tooth brush if needed before the Neets. Ultrasonic cleaners work good also, ig you have one available. Good investment if you clean a bunch of stuff with the scales on. Just beware of Bakelite scales. They don't like much more than buffing with some Mass or plastic cleaner.

Hand buffing will work it you don't have a motor, but the motor is faster and returns a bit more luster.
